The original Bircher Muesli recipe
The original bircher muesli |
Arik likes to not only eat muesli for breakfast, but also in the afternoon as a snack. As far as toppings go, you can use whatever your heart wants for fruit and nuts. We want to alternate blueberries, strawberries, nectarines, hazelnuts, sesame seeds, and roasted coconut. And of course, there is no complete muesli for Arik, without raisins, which we added the night before, so they are nice and soft.
Keep in mind, when using rolled or old-fashioned oats, they will require a longer soak time than fast oats. I also like the texture which is a bit soft (sorry ...), so this recipe uses a little liquid and yogurt. If you prefer a thicker texture, just reduce the amount of milk and yogurt.
